Having Fun and Doing Good Things

Our philanthropy event at Operation Breakthrough was a great success. We had about 13 volunteers show up- AOII members along with husbands, mothers, and children. We were also excited that our Alumnae Network Specialist, Lisa, drove in from Nebraska to meet us and attend the event.

Our group of volunteers took voucher tickets from the people waiting in line for the donations, and exchanged those vouchers for tickets to pick up their boxes. We kept track of the names of those families picking up donations and helped direct traffic as well. It was a busy day and there were lots of families, volunteers, and donations to keep track of.

After a couple of hours of work, our group headed out for snacks at Taqueria Mexico. We all enjoyed chips and salsa, margaritas, and Mexican food, but I think we all enjoyed the conversation even more. We were very excited to see so many new faces at our philanthropy event as well: Lisa brought along a friend of hers, Melania, who recently moved to the Kansas City area from St. Louis; Kristen, another first-timer, joined us for the day; and this was the second time Laura has attended one of our functions. We hope that all three of these women continue to become involved and we welcome even more of you out there to join us!
